Amos Smith, MSW, LCSW, has led as President and CEO of the Community Action Agency of New Haven for more than a decade. With experience across public, private, and corporate sectors, he uses his experiences to improve the system’s performance as well as individual, family and community outcomes. He oversaw services designed to improve behavioral health, mental health, infant mortality, SMART Women, and support for non-custodial low-income fathers. Amos has been recognized for his expertise in addressing health disparities and is currently working with the Yale School of Medicine to reduce disparate access to clinical trials and medical research. He has contributed to national summits and publications and taught courses at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. His compassionate leadership promotes social justice, improves lives, and advances health equity. Services provided by the Community Action Agency of New Haven are designed to ameliorate barriers to access and promote opportunities that minimize the negative impacts of social determinants of health.
