Cassandra McCullough has been the CEO of the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) since 2014, after joining the organization in 1996. She has been pivotal in advancing ABC’s mission to promote health equity through strategic leadership and operational management. ABC focuses on education, research, advocacy, and community engagement, particularly in reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke in underserved populations. Under her guidance, ABC has adopted an inclusive approach that transcends race and specialization, ensuring its impact reaches at-risk communities. Her administrative leadership, including roles as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Continuing Medical Education, has been central to the organization’s growth and success.
With over 35 years of experience in organizational management and administration, Cassandra began her career at The Southern Company before moving to Morehouse School of Medicine and Kaiser Foundation Health Plans of Georgia. She is recognized for her contributions to numerous peer-reviewed publications, offering insights on diversity in clinical trials and integrating social determinants into healthcare.
Cassandra serves on the board of the Alliance for Aging Research and advises the Pfizer Multicultural Advisory Council and the Alliance for Women’s Health and Prevention. She is an honorary board member of the Open My Heart Foundation and has contributed to the Rare Disease Diversity Coalition. She previously held board positions with the National Health Council and the Preparedness and Treatment Equity Coalition.
Cassandra holds an MBA with a concentration in Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix and a BA in Business Administration from St. Leo University.
