Freda Lewis-Hall, MD, is a renowned healthcare leader with over 40 years of experience as a clinician, researcher, and executive in biopharmaceuticals and life sciences. She spent more than a decade at Pfizer in executive leadership roles, including Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and later Chief Patient Officer, where she focused on ensuring the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medicines and vaccines throughout their lifecycle. Prior to her tenure at Pfizer, Dr. Lewis-Hall held key leadership positions at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pharmacia, and Eli Lilly and Company.
Before transitioning to the biopharmaceutical industry, Dr. Lewis-Hall was Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Howard University College of Medicine and was an advisor to the National Institute of Mental Health. The Obama Administration appointed her to the Inaugural Board of Governors for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). She has also chaired the Cures Acceleration Network Advisory Board at the National Institutes of Health and contributed to advisory boards for the Dell Medical School and Harvard Medical School’s Board of Fellows.
Dr. Lewis-Hall serves on the boards of the Milken Institute’s FasterCures, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the Foundation for the NIH, the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, and EveryCure. She is also a SpringWorks Therapeutics, Pyxis Oncology, and Conduit Pharmaceuticals corporate board member.
Her accolades include being named one of *Black Enterprise*’s “Top 50 Women in Corporate America” (2015) and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s “Woman of the Year” (2011). Dr. Lewis-Hall is co-editor of Psychiatric Illness in Women: Emerging Treatments and Research and frequently contributes to health-focused television programs. She earned her degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Howard University College of Medicine.
